Job Description Job Description The HVAC Maintenance Technician supports the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across Goodwill Southeast Georgia facilities. As a key member of the Facilities team, the HVAC Maintenance Technician serves as a Goodwill ambassador by modeling professionalism, accountability, and service in every interaction. Inspect, test, maintain, and repair HVAC systems and components. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues. Perform preventive maintenance and respond to emergency repair needs. Maintain accurate service records, logs, and documentation. Ensure compliance with HVAC codes, safety standards, and organizational policies. Safety, Loss Prevention & Compliance Operate with safety as a primary focus in all work activities. Support organizational efforts toward zero workplace incidents through prevention and education. Conduct root cause analysis following incidents and recommend corrective actions. Evaluate equipment and building conditions and report unsafe conditions promptly. Review OSHA, CPSC, and labor compliance requirements and report concerns as needed. Partner with Facilities and Asset Protection teams to support loss prevention and compliance initiatives. Training, Team Support & Quality Improvement Train and support junior technicians and team members as assigned. Communicate clearly and professionally with associates, customers, and leadership. Promote continuous quality improvement by following SOPs and identifying opportunities for innovation. Mission Advancement Serve as a Goodwill ambassador by supporting organizational initiatives and community engagement. Demonstrate Goodwill’s core values: Commitment, Learning, Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, and Service to Others . What You’ll Need: High school diploma or equivalent required. HVAC certification required; EPA Universal certification required; NATE certification preferred. Three (3) to four (4) years of experience in HVAC maintenance and repair. Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, principles, and safety protocols. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and HVAC-related software. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills. Ability to train, coach, and develop team members. Ability to organize priorities, manage schedules, and execute work independently. Strong communication and customer service skills. Willingness to work a flexible, full-time schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Valid driver’s license with ability to be insured by company carrier and maintain a clean driving record. Ability and willingness to travel frequently between facilities. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements: Work performed in varying conditions including heat, cold, dust, damp, noise, confined spaces, and indoor/outdoor environments. Ability to stand, sit, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, climb, and crawl as required. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently. Ability to work extended hours as needed to complete assigned duties.
