our hotel in Charleston, SC plays a critical role in maintaining
the overall functionality, safety, and aesthetic appeal of the
property. This position ensures that all maintenance and repair
tasks are completed efficiently to provide a comfortable and
welcoming environment for guests and staff alike. The successful
candidate will address a wide range of issues, from minor repairs
to preventative maintenance, thereby minimizing downtime and
enhancing guest satisfaction. This role requires a proactive
approach to identifying potential problems and executing timely
solutions to uphold the hotel's high standards. Ultimately, the
Handyman contributes significantly to the smooth operation and
positive reputation of the hotel by maintaining its physical
infrastructure. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or
equivalent. Proven experience in general maintenance or handyman
work, preferably in a hospitality or accommodation setting. Basic
knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively. Strong
problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications: Certification or training in specific
trades such as electrical, plumbing, or HVAC. Experience working in
a hotel or similar accommodation environment. Familiarity with
safety regulations and compliance standards relevant to the
hospitality industry. Basic knowledge of building management
systems and preventive maintenance software. Good communication
skills to interact effectively with hotel staff and management.
Responsibilities: Perform routine maintenance tasks including
plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC repairs to
ensure all hotel facilities are in optimal condition. Respond
promptly to maintenance requests from hotel management and staff,
prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact on guest experience.
Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and
back-of-house facilities to identify and address maintenance needs
proactively. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities,
materials used, and time spent on each task to support operational
efficiency and budgeting. Collaborate with external contractors and
vendors when specialized repairs or services are required, ensuring
quality and compliance with hotel standards. Skills: The required
skills enable the Handyman to perform a wide variety of maintenance
and repair tasks efficiently, ensuring the hotel’s infrastructure
remains safe and functional. Proficiency with hand and power tools
is essential for executing repairs and installations accurately.
Problem-solving skills are used daily to diagnose issues quickly
and determine the best course of action to resolve them with
minimal disruption. Preferred skills such as knowledge of safety
regulations and building management systems enhance the ability to
maintain compliance and optimize maintenance schedules. Effective
communication skills facilitate coordination with hotel staff and
external vendors, ensuring maintenance activities align with
operational needs and guest expectations.
