A full-time Special Education teaching opportunity is available for motivated educators with experience supporting K-12 students in diverse learning environments. This contract role is located in Charleston, SC, and offers the rewarding challenge of making a meaningful impact on students with intellectual disabilities and autism. You will be assigned to two schools: Liberty Hill Academy, where you will teach students on the autism spectrum in collaboration with a teaching assistant, a registered behavior technician (RBT), and an on-site Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA); and Ladson Elementary School, supporting students through resource teaching. Both roles require strong behavior management skills and individualized instructional strategies. Key qualifications include: - Active South Carolina Special Education Teacher licensure, with multi-categorical licensure preferred - Prior experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and intellectual disabilities - Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student needs - Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and related service providers - Flexibility and patience to work in a challenging classroom environment Responsibilities: - Deliver tailored instruction that supports academic, social, and behavioral goals for K-12 special education students - Utilize strategies and interventions based on behavior assessments and team input, including collaboration with BCBAs - Maintain detailed documentation of progress and compliance with state and federal regulations - Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and growth This contract position runs from ASAP through May 29, 2026, with a Monday through Friday schedule. Experience levels from early career to seasoned professionals are welcome.
