Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

The Maintenance Mechanic, working closely with the Production
Manager, Maintenance Manager, Planners, Supervisors, and the
Storeroom Attendant, evaluates maintenance effectiveness and
efficiency and reviews preventative maintenance procedures and
applicability of scheduled maintenance. The incumbent also assesses
the effectiveness of repairs and determines additional practices
and technology to be applied to these processes and conducts root
cause analysis for equipment failures while working with the
Maintenance Manager to determine course of action.
Conducting root cause analysis for equipment breakdowns;
Leading improvement projects to enhance process
Redesigning equipment configurations to improve maintenance
Replacing underperforming equipment; and
Engaging with corporate project teams to identify opportunities to
institute reliability in the planning stages.
Consulting with Technicians, Planners, Operating Managers, and
Supervisors to determine preventative maintenance (PM) and repair
Conducting independent PM reviews to determine relevance and
Assessing the Maintenance Technician utilization and
Tracking mean time to repair (MTTR) and mean time between failures
Calculating PM/ predictive maintenance (Pdm) spending;
Estimating equipment lifecycle costing;
Evaluating plant critical equipment and spares; and
Reporting cost impact of improvement projects.
Researching and developing new or improved repair work plans and
Identifying and creating new PM procedures using accepted best
Developing repair and rebuild procedures for critical plant
Participating in down day planning and critique meetings;
Writing test procedures for repaired equipment to ensure repairs
meet operating specifications;
Initiating engineering studies into equipment/process repair time;
Establishing appropriate predictive techniques for monitoring
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated skills with the standard features of various personal
computer word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word
and Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, and other proprietary
Experience with a computer maintenance management system (CMMS),
such as MP2 or similar system.
Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the
ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively
coordinate activities and accomplish goals.
Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and continual
diligence about follow-up.
Strong desire to learn.
Well organized with the ability to multi-task.
Must be able to lead and be a part of cross-functional teams.
Knowledgeable of root cause and fault tree analysis techniques.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Sound judgment, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Ability to manage the flow of all required information and
Ability to deliver sustainable and superior results.
5 or more years maintenance experience in a continuous operating
(24/7) manufacturing environment.
1 or more years of experience planning/scheduling through hands-on
Experience working with a CMMS.
Technical certification a plus
