Position Summary

The Logistics Technician will receive, inspect, accept, and store, controlled materials in accordance with applicable policies and instructions. Prepare national and international multi-modal shipments of materials and supplies for support of operations at sea. Receive and warehouse shipments for operations and engineering projects. Maintain inventory database systems in an auditable fashion. Also, sources and coordinates the purchase and receipt of products and services in support of MSO Charleston.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform complete technical receipt inspections, COC verification and validation of controlled material in accordance with applicable specifications.
  • Ensure all controlled materials received and issued are furnished with adequate OQE to support verification of pedigree for inclusion in systems serviced under stringent engineering and quality protocols.
  • Ensure the receipt, custody and issuance of all controlled materials is executed under the appropriate protocols.
  • Maintain all OQE records in an auditable fashion.
  • Coordinate the resolution of all material deficiencies and issues of non-conformance discovered during receipt inspection, material storage and issue for use, to include technical analysis, determination of corrective and preventive action and evaluation of corrective actions taken.
  • Establish and maintain controlled material storage in accordance with local policy.
  • Maintain physical custody of controlled inventory until issue for use.
  • Package shipments for national and international freight to include proper documentation of bills of lading and dangerous goods shipments into and out of the United States.
  • Track, report and update as needed national and international shipments through the customs process to destination.
  • Research and source products and services according to engineering project requirements
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Purchasing departments to obtain required products and services.
  • Compile, review, and maintain product data, price lists, reports, and records.
  • Conduct regular physical inventories/audits.
  • Some travel may be required.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED
    • Ability to obtain Secret security clearance.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • 0-2 years of practical experience in logistics.
    • Ability to work independently and in a small team environment.
    • Able to apply a working knowledge of general technical/engineering fundamentals.
    • Good communication and organizational skills.
    • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and data.
    • Ability to pass a DOT Physical
    • Proficient in MS Office applications and Database management.
      DESIRED
      • Degree in Business, Logistics, or technical discipline.
      • Secret or higher security clearance
      • Familiarity with Government Property Accountability and DFARS
      • Forklift experience & certification
      • Experience with large-scale commercial and/or military systems.
      • Demonstrated knowledge and skills with logistics databases.
      • Demonstrated knowledge and effective use of supply support processes.
