Job Description The Opportunity | CNC Machinists 2nd Shift - 3:00pm to 11:30pm Your primary function as a VTL Machinist will be to set up and operate CNC VTL machines. To produce (and repair) a variety of large complex parts and assemblies ensuring dimensional accuracy by following blueprints and quality standards. Large part machining of components up to 78 inches in diameter. Location: Summerville, SC Key Responsibilities: /n - Set up and operate VTL (Vertical Turning Lathe) CNC machines /n /n - Machine set up: Studying blueprints and work instructions to set up VTL machines with the correct tooling, fixturing, and cutting parameters for the specific part. Ability to indicate parts or fixtures for set up /n /n - Quality inspection: Regularly checking machined parts using precision measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, dial indicators and other types of gauges to ensure they meet dimensional tolerances. /n /n - Follow established operational procedures to perform all machining functions such as turn, mill, bore, groove, chamfer, profile, taper, tap, etc. Maintain drawing requirements including length, diameters, perpendicularity, parallelism, concentricity, etc. /n /n - Operate bridge cranes, fork trucks, hand trucks, etc. for material handling, and computers and Manufacturing Systems. /n /n /nYour Expertise: /n - High School graduate /n /n - Completion of a four-year machinist apprenticeship or equivalent is an asset. /n /n - Minimum of 8 years of CNC machining experience /n /n - Minimum of 1 year experience setting up & operating vertical turning lathes (VTLs) /n /n - Knowledge of cutting tools and machining techniques /n /n - Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings /n /n - Ability to maintain high quality standard and tight tolerances within .001 of an inch /n /n - Strong understanding of CNC machining principles and programming /n /n - Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) /n /n - Ability to troubleshoot by identifying and resolving machining issues, such as tooling issues, incorrect program settings or machine malfunctions. /n /n - Attention to detail: High level of accuracy and consistency in machining /n /n - Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills /n /n - Ability effectively communicates with others /n /n - Lifting objects weighing 50 pounds to waist height and transporting a distance of 10 feet. /n /n - Must be a sole US citizen and able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance. /n /n /nPreferred Experience: Experience operating WFL Machines and Waldrich Coburg Machines. * Must be a sole US citizen and able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance This position may require exposure to information, which is subject to US export control regulations, i.e., the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
