Job Description Summary The Department of Neurological Surgery
at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks a BC/BE
neurosurgeon with fellowship training in spinal surgery. Level of
appointment will be Assistant Professor. Candidates with basic or
translational research interests are encouraged to apply. Candidate
will be expected to actively participate in the academic activities
of the Department and College. This participation includes regular
attendance at educational activities and mentorship of clinical
and/or research post-doctoral fellows as well as graduate students.
Candidate must be a fellowship trained Neurosurgeon and be BC/BE in
Neurological Surgery, and eligible for a South Carolina medical
license. The Department of Neurological Surgery at MUSC is a
rapidly growing academic program located in beautiful Charleston
South Carolina. Charleston is one of the most historic cities in
the southeastern United States and offers a wide variety of
recreational activities including swimming, sailing, kayaking,
fishing and golf. There are numerous restaurants, and the Spoleto
Festival brings exceptional cultural events to the area each year.

Description Minimum Requirements: PhD/MD or equivalent Minimum
Experience and Training Requirements: Successful applicants should
possess excellent clinical skills and have experience teaching
fellows, residents and students. Applicant must be Board Certified
or Board Eligible. The position is posted at the Clinical

dependent upon the qualifications and accomplishments of the

(Infrequent) Ability to lift objects, up to 15 lbs., from floor
level to height of 36 inches, unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to
lower objects, up to 15 lbs., from height of 36 inches to floor
level, unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to push/pull objects, up to
15 lbs., unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision,
corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to
see and recognize objects close at hand. (Frequent) Ability to see
and recognize objects at a distance. (Frequent) Ability to
determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
