Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Cardiac Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in PCU/Stepdown License: South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact State RN License Certifications: American Heart Association (AHA) BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Stepdown nursing experience Description: This position is in a cardiovascular intermediate care unit. Nurse-to-patient ratios for stepdown patients are 1:3. Medical surgical patient assignments are 1:4 or 1:5. The schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts from 7 am to 7:30 pm, with holidays as needed. Weekend requirements include four weekend shifts in a four-week period. There are no call requirements for this role. Nurses may float within their scope to meet facility needs. First-time travelers are accepted for this position. The facility accommodates requests for block scheduling, subject to manager approval based on unit needs. Local candidates may apply; however, acceptance is at the discretion of the facility. The facility may call off one shift every two weeks. Travelers should be aware of the hurricane season, which runs from June through November. During this time, employees may be assigned to emergency response teams. This unit provides care for cardiothoracic patients both pre and post-surgery. Surgeries include heart transplants, lung transplants, left ventricular assist devices, coronary artery bypass grafts, valve replacements, lobectomies, esophagectomies, and thoracotomies.
