We are searching for a Infection Control Prevention Specialist to join our wonderful team of Medical Professionals!
Essential Core Functions:
Assists with ongoing lab-based surveillance of infections in patients.
Rounds in all targeted surveillance areas (Critical care units 1, 2 & 3, NICU, 4 Central) on a routine basis per predetermined time intervals
Acts as a role model and educator for clinical staff regarding infection control practices, theory, and standards throughout the healthcare system.
Collects surveillance data on infections per specific criteria and sampling methodology for entry into infection control database programs.
Assists in report generation of infection control surveillance data and analysis of data.
Reports data to IC Director, hospital epidemiologist, Infection Control Committee, and any other appropriate groups of individuals.
You should have:
- Current State of South Carolina RN License required, or recognized compact licensure (subject to South Carolina State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions)
- Minimum of one year experience in the acute care setting

Licensure: Current South Carolina RN license required OR Allied Healthcare professional: Medical Technology (MT), Public Health (PH)/Epidemiology. BSN from an accredited school of nursing or Baccalaureate from other related Allied Healthcare professional: Medical Technology (MT), or Public Health (PH)/Epidemiology with formal course work in statistics or national Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred. Knowledge of epidemiology, infectious disease management, microbiology, public health principles, and statistical analysis of clinical data preferred.
MSN or Master's degree in Public Health (MPH), Lab Technology/Microbiology preferred.
CIC certification (Required within one year).
Experience: At least three years of direct clinical practice, Lab work, or Public Health/Epidemiology required. Experience working closely with physicians and other clinical care providers in group and one-on-one settings necessary. Experience in critical care and/or OR helpful.
