Job Description SummaryThis is a dual role position of EKG tech
AND CMA II.
The EKG tech reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager and performs
EKG testing for all patients scheduled. The EKG tech is also
responsible for ensuring that all EKG charges and Stress test
charges are appropriately entered and executed for all areas of
coverage. The candidate for this position much have CMA experience
as well and a current license to practice. The Certified Medical
Assistant reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager. Under the
direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Medical
Assistant performs multi-skilled activities to support a
decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve
desired outcomes. Assists in examination and treatment of patients
under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures
vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight,
and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical
record. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of

duties/descriptionPerform clerical duties and ensure overall
financial well-being of the clinic operations.Schedule tests and
proceduresFax requisitions/consult forms, utilize tube

Point of Care Testing as ordered, and documents results as ordered.
-Utilizes appropriate communication/documentation tools and devices
in providing patient care and documenting appropriate information
in the patient record.Complete triage, regulatory checklist, and
medical reconciliation as part of the complete triage
process.Report abnormal findings or concerns to RN or
provider.Review and follow-up on patient testing; report per clinic
protocol. -Maintain medication and immunization records. -Complete
medication pre-authorizations.Documents any appropriate charges and
supporting documentation in EMR as applicable.Adheres to policy &
procedures regarding patient phone calls and in basket message
management.Provides safe and effect nursing care to patients and
families. Maintains a safe environment for patients, families, and

standard precautions, contact isolation, and respiratory isolation

patient identification.Independently performs and documents a
variety of clinical procedures according to policy and procedures.
-Using appropriate equipment, obtain and document vital signs,
height, weight, BMI, HgA1C, head, chest, and abdominal
circumference as appropriate to patient population. -Completes
chief complaint, reason for visit, change in patient condition, and
all patient screenings for each visit.Assist patient with comfort
related needs.Prepare patients for exam and all office
procedures.Obtains, documents, and reports any abnormal findings to
appropriate provider.Facilitate a positive learning environment for
students, orient and train new staff in assigned areas. -Assist in
teaching patient care under direction of the RN or
ProviderAppropriate use and documentation of unit or organizational
level standing orders.Administer medicine to patients and adheres
to rules, regulations and policies related to medication
administration and documentation. -Knowledge and compliance to
practice within the clinical scope of a Certified Medical

patients and send to the third-party company(Biotel) for Scanning.
- -Ensure all patients are uploaded the same day of return. -Log
all information on a daily basis. -Ensure all tapes are returned
within seven (7) days of placement. - Contact patients as needed to
ensure return of Holter and notify manager if unable to secure
return of such. -Edit and file Holters the day they are read, and
review physician comments. No editing or filing for Holters
outstanding.All bills submitted daily. -Completes quality control
of all lab equipment. -Ensure quality tracings are obtained. -All
equipment present, functional, and necessary maintenance up to
date. -Perform and instruct other staff on daily QC, including
testing and cleaning. - Arrange repair and PM for equipment.Provide
monthly statistics of volumeProperly reports and follows through on
equipment malfunction, repairs, PM due, and -safety hazard by
completion of an equipment failure form. -Reports all patient
occurrences by completion of a Shield report. - Report all employee
occurrences by completion of ACCORD form.Maintains required
certification, continuing education, and mandatory training.
-Ensure BLS training is completed as required. -Develop staff
training and competencies for stress testing and stress testing
with gas analysis and Holter scanning.Assists with special projects
as requested including committee participation, presentations, or
other developments that ariseAccurate test results and reports
edited, filed, and distributed daily. -Correct billing in MUSE from
all clinics, Ambulatory, In-patient and Outreach locations.Faxed
EKG results are confirmed, returned, and logged daily.Edits/Enters
completed reports in MUSE. -Maintain ledger of exams performed.
-Maintain files in orderly fashion. -Documents all exams performed,
including name, location and billing information.Statistics
provided to Manager or other users as requested.Additional Job
DescriptionHigh school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a
recognized EKG training program or documented on-the-job EKG
training and at least one year of directly related patient care
experience in a health care setting. Experience in Holter Monitor
scanning and Stress Treadmill procedures preferred. Current
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)
certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers
