Interventional radiologic technologist assists physicians with
image guided minimally invasive procedures in the diagnosis and
treatment of disease. Providing the highest quality of care, they
treat an ever-widening range of conditions inside the body from
outside the body by inserting various small instruments or tools,
such as catheters or wires, with the use of various x-ray and
imaging techniques (i.e., CT scanners, MRI scanners, ultrasound
scanners). The technologist is responsible for maintaining sterile
technique, operation of equipment, quality assurance of imaging and
compassionate patient care. Our Interventional Radiology department
is at the forefront of innovation and new technologies, offering an
alternative to the surgical treatment of many conditions and can
eliminate the need for hospitalization, in some cases.EntityMedical

Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Day Shift: Rotating 4-10hour shifts per
week (730a-6p); minimal call requirements
The Interventional Radiology Technologist reports directly to the
Vascular and Interventional Radiology RT Supervisor. The IR
Technologist will work alongside the Interventional Radiologist and
RN to assist in the performance of diagnostic angiographic
procedures as well as complex vascular and nonvascular
interventional and therapeutic procedures. He/she is responsible
for obtaining all equipment needed for a procedure, positioning and
imaging patients, resolving equipment issues, and demonstrating
knowledge of human anatomy, radiation safety, interventional
supplies, and equipment operation to include fluoroscopy, US, and
ancillary therapeutic devices. The IR technologist must prepare,
administer, and document contrast given throughout procedure.
Responsible for corroborating a patient's clinical history with
procedure and ensuring information documented and available for use
by clinician. Using their patient care skills, he/she must provide
good communication, patient assessment, and patient monitoring. The
IR technologist is responsible for post processing digital data for
display or hard copy records, ensuring technical quality and proper
identification is evident. Periodic weekend and off hour call will
be required.
Additional Job DescriptionGraduation from an accredited school of
radiologic technology and minimum 1 year of experience working
independently in radiology. - ---Must be registered with the
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). - Licensure
from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is
required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a
certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for
Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American
Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
Proactively maintains and renews ARRT, state license, BLS, PPD,
respirator fit test, and POC training. Must be able to function
effectively in a team-oriented environment. Must be familiar with
age specific criteria. -Physical Requirements:---Ability to perform
